It's that time of year again!

Swallowtail Caterpillar on Fennel
Originally uploaded by sdpalladio.

We're right in the middle of Tropical Storm Fay right now, but I rescued a few Black Swallowtail caterpillars and fennel plants and placed them on the porch. The little ones are chowing away and the big one above just formed its hammock this morning to turn into a chrysalis. After 2 years without them, probably due to weather patterns, it's nice to see the swallowtails back. We should also have some monarchs soon--hopefully they're weathering the storm in their little greenhouse back at the house!
