HGTV Room Planner : If you're not redoing your house, it's still fun. Use the drop down menus to set up an entire room, and then move and add furniture. You used to have to pay for programs like that.

The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest : If the name sounds over-the-top, it is! This contest is for the worst possible fiction sentence, with winners like the following:

She resolved to end the love affair with Ramon tonight . . . summarily,
like Martha Stewart ripping the sand vein out of a shrimp's tail . . . though
the term "love affair" now struck her as a ridiculous euphemism . . . not unlike
"sand vein," which is after all an intestine, not a vein . . . and that tarry
substance inside certainly isn't sand . . . and that brought her back to
Ramon.
