Thursday, September 23, 2004If Google was a Frappuccino flavor, what would it taste like?
Things are still hectic at the office, as my days are now punctuated by resume reviews and interviewing new assistants. This second time through seems more challenging than the first. First time, everyone was a graphic designer. This time, everyone is an English teacher. Interesting bunch.
So Adam emails this morning and says this site is number one on Google for the phrase "Frappuccino Friday" and sure enough, it is. Ha! Trivial, I know, given that not many people look for that online, but still, it's a funny thing and I get a kick out of manipulating search engines to my advantage *evil laugh*. Anyway, a few other fun sites turned up on the same search... Hungry Girl.com : run by a professed foodaholic, it's cute and clever with food facts, amusing articles, and health issues Put Down the Donut.com : Funny name with a focus on dieting and healthy recipes Sandy Savage's Dressage: how did a site on horses come up? Simple. A horse named Frappuccino! Sounds like a great idea to me. "The Social Club of SoHo" : an article on a corner Starbucks in "SoHo", which I personally thought was in New York, but apparently St. Petersburg has commandeered the name as well. Weird people in the article, and they mostly all have dogs in the pictures. What is that about? One interesting thing is their discussion of how Starbucks wants to become your "third place" next to home and work. Might work for other cities, but that hasn't quite caught on here. At least for me. I'd love to hang out there, but other patrons look so annoyed that you might come into the same store as they're in. Apparently, in Jacksonville what we need is private Starbucks booths.
